Dear Grade 7 students and parents,

 
We are learning in our study of Mishna (בבא מציעא פרק ג', פסוק א') about the responsibility of returning lost objects to their rightful owners.  We are making text to life connections by looking at the ways those rulings in the Mishna involving the timeless value of responsibility still make an impact on our lives today.

This term, the grade 7 students are assigned a project involving technology that will  require them to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the mishna and its values, and their ability to connect real life court cases to their learning.

The following are a summary components of this project .  Please refer to the attached rubric for further detail.

1. Explain the Mishna learned in class in your own words
2. In groups - research a case on line that has to do with returning lost items.
3. Describe the case in detail, including all relevant information pertaining to what happened, where, how, why etc.
4. Make a connection to the Mishna.  How does the Mishnaic text learned connect to the case you researched.  Compare and contrast the details of the case to the situation described in the Mishnaic text.
5. Record all findings (#1-4) on the Yola site.
6. Prepare a presentation of your site and information to the class.
Be prepared to present both the Misna case and your researched case.

Dec 7th - Description of a real life case found on line

Dec 14th – Connecting the case research with the Mishnaic text

January 18th  – Technology potion must be completed

Presentation Preparation (in class) – The week of January 21st/2012

Final Presentation – TBA (end of January / Beginning of February
